Job description: Your Opportunity:

The University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) Critical Care Program consists of General Systems Intensive Care Unit (GSICU) and the Edmonton Firefighters’ Burn Treatment Unit. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Wound Care Clinic Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides wound care to patients and consultation about wound care within a patient-centered, multi-disciplinary team environment. Professional nursing practice is delivered based on recognized nursing standards/scope of practice and established nursing philosophy. The Wound Care Clinic LPN in liaison with the Burn/Plastic Surgery Team assesses, plans, implements and evaluates treatment of burns and acute wounds to adult and pediatric patients, and also provides services to patients within the hospital who require specialized wound procedures.

Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Wound debridement certification and Level 1 Sharp Tissue debridement training is required. Training in the assessment and management of burn wounds, wound vacs, wound packing, staple removal and post skin graft care required. Minimum two years experience providing direct patient care for the treatment and management of burns/wounds.
