Position Summary
Interior Health is hiring casual Life Skills Workers to join our mental health team at Ponderosa House in Cranbrook, B.C. We are seeking experienced mental health workers to provide supportive care for individuals who experience severe challenges in daily living as a result of their mental illness and/or substance use disorder.
The Life Skills Worker performs a variety of duties involving clients who are placed in the Short Stay, Stabilization, Treatment and Recovery housing program. Reporting to the Team Leader (site specific), this position is a member of the multidisciplinary Mental Health and Addiction team providing and array of services within a psychosocial rehabilitation and harm reduction framework for clients with a serious mental illness and/or substance use disorder. The Life Skills Worker is expected to engage the resident and family as people with full competence and as full collaborators in service planning, delivery and evaluation.
The shifts for this position are rotating days and nights from 07:00 to 19:00 and 19:00 to 07:00 hours.

Qualifications
- Grade 12
- Community Mental Health Worker Certificate
- One year recent related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Current CPR
- Food Safe
- Current valid BC Driver’s License.
**Experience working with clients with addiction is an asset.
