Job description: The Line Cook provides support in preparing and plating dishes during service in the Currents Restaurant and Big Beach Lounge. You will achieve as part of the team in the fast-paced kitchen environment to produce high-quality dishes consistently and quickly, and enjoy cooking creatively with fresh, local ingredients.

Education/Experience

  • FOODSAFE Certificate
  • 2-5 Years Culinary Experience
  • Saucier and Entremetier experience an asset

Skills

  • Excellent Teamwork and Communication Skills.
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to multi task and work under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a high paced and physically demanding environment.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 40lbs.

Job Outline

  • Prepares and plates dishes for service, observing the Chef’s recipes and pre-determined portion sizes.
  • Takes direction from the Chef and supervisory team.
  • Works as part of the culinary team to produce high quality dishes consistently and quickly.
  • Supports rest of the culinary team to ensure top-quality service.
  • Maintains cleanliness standards in kitchen, participates in cleaning duties.
  • Assists in food tracking and control as requested by the Chef.
  • Fulfills roles of saucier and entremetier as required.
  • Properly labels, stores, and rotates stored food items, prevents excess waste.
