Job Description

Reporting to the General Manager of bars, the Library Bar Manager is responsible for the smooth operation of all food and beverage service including venues & functions. The Bar Manager is present on the floor and is responsible for upholding standards, coaching & mentoring staff, while fostering a strong relationship with guests.

  • Ensure the smooth daily operation of all Food and beverage components of the hotel including, CLOCKWORK, Library Bar.
  • Responsible for daily operation by managing on the floor
  • Ensure that all hotel Food and beverage standards including speed of service, classic & signature cocktail recipes, wine pours, bartending techniques, and cleanliness are adhered to by all staff
  • Ensure that all beverage pouring standards are followed according to SMART SERVE guidelines
  • Ensure standard bar set-ups, service and side duties are followed on a daily basis
  • Support the Director of Venues in maintaining target beverage costs & control standards
  • Work closely with F&B outlet managers to achieve departmental goals: LQA, EES, VOG
  • Monitor stock & condition of operating supplies such as glassware & bar tools
  • Ensure all bar teams have sufficient stock of dry goods, non-alcoholic ingredients, and alcohol for service
  • Provide the Purchasing Manager monthly alcohol needs up to set par
  • Perform F&B opening & closing duties as needed
  • Conducts frequent inspections of facilities and equipment, reporting any deficiencies to maintenance
  • Maintain and ensure that all bars information is kept up to date with respect to all changes and/or revisions
  • Participate in daily communication briefings with the team
  • Ensure high level of departmental morale through coaching, shairing of monthly departmental communication meetings, and leading by example in strong relationships
  • Cooperate in all respects especially with reference to scheduling and the sharing of staff during busy periods
  • Distribute, receive, count and accurately bill for all food and beverage consumed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a F&B Assistant Manager in a medium to large size luxury hotel
  • Strong computer skills in MS Word, E-mail, Excel
  • A proven leader and committed to staff development
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Post-secondary education in Hotel and Restaurant Management preferred
  • Previous union experience an asset
  • Valid Smart Serve certification required

Physical Aspects of Position (included but not limited to):

  • Frequent sitting throughout shift
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
