Job Description
The role of the Finance area is to support Manulife Bank in all financial aspects. The Finance area is responsible for financial reporting, capital management, planning & expense budgeting, benchmarking, cost analysis, accounting policy and internal controls.
Reporting to the Director, Strategic Projects, Compensation & Planning, the Manager, Planning & Analysis, will be accountable for running/preparing the 5-Year Strategic Plan, Financial Condition Testing (“FCT”), Earnings Estimates/Sales Estimate & Forecasting, Product Profitability and Broker Reporting for Manulife Bank. Responsibilities will also include running/preparing the 5-Year Strategic Plan for Manulife Trust Company. In addition, there will be adhoc requests that will require the development of reports and analysis/commentary.
Key Accountabilities:
- Collaborate cross-functionally with various Bank teams including: Treasury, Admin Operations, Sales Management, Finance Teams (primarily Expenses and External Reporting for Capital), Product Teams, Communications Team and CDN Division Finance
- As part of day-to-day operations
- Creating new reporting i.e. Broker Reporting, Rewards, etc.
- Collaborating with Treasury, Product Teams, Sales Teams, Finance Project Team, Expense Management Team, External Reporting Team
- Key point of contact for the Finance team, specifically developing into a subject matter expert on product profitability, that provides valuable support and analysis to the Business
- Running/preparing the 5-Year Strategic Plan, FCT, Earnings Estimates/Sales Estimate, Forecasting, Product Profitability, Broker Reporting
- Identify, understand and recommend solutions to overcome barriers in processes and control weaknesses as well as focus on continuous improvements in models and looking for efficiencies in reporting
- Interact directly with the Bank Leadership Team to present results on 5-Year Plan, Product Profitability, Broker Reporting etc.
- In addition to providing management reports to the Leadership Team, this role also interacts with senior leadership to discuss and build assumptions
- Be able to manage competing priorities and prioritize demands, while delivering accurate and on-time results
- Responsible for coaching and mentoring current CPA student (planning and profitability)
- Responsible for supporting the Director in developing management reporting and analytics supporting 5-Year Plan, FCT, Earnings Estimates, Forecasting, Broker Reporting and Product Profitability (in-force and plan)

What we are looking for
University Business Degree and/or recognized accounting designation (CPA) required;
Knowledge of banking industry
Well organized and with high level of initiative
Good presentation and business writing skills
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Strong attention to detail and aptitude to learn
Ability to multi-task
Highly developed communication and relationship skills; able to build relationships across business units and across other segments
Strong project management skills including the ability to provide leadership, project accountability and coaching

Salary & Benefits
The annual base salary for this role is listed below.
Primary Location Waterloo, Ontario
Salary range is expected to be between $77,250.00 CAD – $139,050.00 CAD
