Job description: Your Opportunity:
You have a genuine interest in helping clients manage their mental health. Using your empathy, ability to create a safe environment, and your active listening skills, help improve the health of young Albertans during a vulnerable time in their lives. You are passionate about providing therapy for youths and starting them on their journeys to recovery. Reporting to the Care Manager, you will be working within a community residential setting providing care for adolescents with complex mental health presentations. You provide clinical support and guidance for youth who require intensive community-based mental health treatment and support. The therapist collaborates closely with the residential agency, Children’s Services, and an allied health team, as well as with colleagues from addiction and mental health services. You ensure that assessments, interventions, and recommendations are integrated into care. Your services may include psychological screening, assessments, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention, and promotion while adhering to best practice and ethical and professional standards. You may be required to provide input into program, policy, and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives. As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.
