Position Title: Operations Finance Analyst

Operations Finance Analyst

Summary:

The Operations Analyst serves as the key finance representative at their location and as a member of the plant team is responsible for day-to-day financial activities, plant performance analysis, forecasting and budgets. The Operations Analysts is the key point of contact to help the plant observe, report, forecast, and improve financial performance.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Complete distribution of usage variance templates (labor and energy) daily.
  • Perform distribution of usage variance (labor, energy, and material) daily or as required.
  • Ensure clean cut-off of process orders daily, weekly, and monthly.
  • Analyze plant variances and report findings to plant management and operations finance weekly.
  • Complete energy report for fuel, electricity, and water monthly.
  • Reconcile cost report labor and energy to the general ledger monthly.
  • Good understanding of transaction/inventory flow and financial impact/posting.
  • Prepare journal entries during month-end close.
  • Responsible for updating plant variance forecast weekly and monthly, including explanations.
  • Responsible for bill of material changes and maintenance as needed.
  • Perform inventory audits of raw, ingredient, packaging, and spare parts quarterly.
  • Work with plant maintenance to identify excess/obsolete spare parts quarterly.
  • Work with plant management to identify cost savings opportunities at the plant.
  • Lead the development of the annual operating budget for the responsible plant.
  • Work with McCain Business Services to complete tasks timely and accurately.
  • Walk the shop floor to examine waste streams and opportunities for financial performance improvement
  • Other projects/duties as assigned or needed.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree perferred.
  • Experience/knowledge of SAP preferred
  • Relevant work experience in manufacturing environment preferred
  • 2-4 years of work experience in cost accounting (preferred).
  • Strong technical, analytical, and systems skills (SAP, Microsoft Excel) preferred
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills with ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects.
  • Must be able to investigate complex issues and resolve problems.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
