Job description: Your Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in the Orthopedic Clinic at the Sturgeon Community Hospital! The team is highly collaborative and supportive to ensure that all goals are met to ensure the best outcomes for our patients and families. As the successful candidate, you will bring with your strong technical skills and knowledge, knowledge of how to prepare and recover patients for procedures and ability to provide procedural sedation. You will also be able to start IV’s and provide patient education. You’ll also have the ability to adapt to multiple shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment. You will also be able to communicate well with patients, ensuring understanding and being able to adjust your communication style to meet the needs of your audience. You will also be highly collaborative with your team in the collaborative care model but bring with you the ability to work independently as well. This position would fill shifts between Monday and Friday. This role provides a great opportunity to further develop your skills and technical knowledge in multiple areas and provides the opportunity to work closely with an interprofessional team, including interacting directly with anesthesiologists and physicians. In this position, you will be on your feet for an extended period of time (both walking and standing), and you must be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning of patients. You will also be required to bend, lift, push, and pull equipment.

Description:

As an Orthopaedic Technician (Ortho Tech), you will apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints and traction equipment utilized in the care of orthopaedic patients (clients, residents). You will observe, monitor, report and document changes in the patient’s physical, mental and emotional state, while providing safe and effective, quality care. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Completion of an accredited specialty Orthopaedic Technician program. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Previous endoscopy experience within last 3 years. Previous experience surgical procedures in an ambulatory clinic within last 3 years (such as: Cystoscopy, gynecological, orthopedic, general surgical procedures). Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with complex wound care. Experience with direct IV push administration. Previous experience in operating room environment. Procedural sedation course. Previous experience with patient education. Previous experience in cystography. Experience with Connect care. Previous experience with NetCare. Previous experience in Ambulatory Clinics and Endoscopy.
