Job description: We currently have a Casual opportunity for a Patient Administrative Assistant in the 6 East Nursing Unit at our Holland Campus.
Hours of Work:
Weekday: Days, Evenings; 8hrs, 6hrs; as per schedule
Weekend: Days, Evenings; 8hrs, 6hrs; as per schedule
Summary of Duties
Responsible for providing administrative, clerical and secretarial support to the nursing units by:
- Assisting in coordinating nursing unit activities;
- Coordinating patient admission/discharge/transfer;
- Liaising with both internal and external customers;
- Responding to telephone and reception inquires for both internal and external customers;
- Assumes other responsibilities and duties as required.
Qualifications/Skills
- Successful completion of secondary school required;
- Post-secondary business/secretarial courses;
- Successful completion of SHSC PAA training;
- Computer/typing skills including Windows and MS Word are required;
- Keyboarding at 40 w.p.m. or 106 n.k.p.m.;
- Minimum two years’ experience in a busy Nursing Unit preferably in a hospital/health care environment;
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with flexibility and diplomacy while providing excellent customer service;
- People person with strong verbal and written communication skills, customer focused, with attention to detail;
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals;
- Excellent organizational skills.
