Be part of a dynamic growing team constantly evolving in order to provide the highest quality patient care possible. Working within the Oncology Program, the Patient Education Coordinator will utilize evidence and best practice to develop and implement comprehensive education strategies that are responsive to the identified needs of cancer patients and their families. The Oncology Patient Education Coordinator works within a team environment across THP sites, to foster and support cross discipline collaboration and sharing of patient education expertise. They will also work closely with the THP Patient and Family Advisory Council to seek their input and active participation in co-designing educational materials and programs. Collaboration with the Mississauga Halton Central West Regional Cancer Program may be required to ensure the regional cancer centre is fostering a similar, high quality patient experience regardless of where Cancer patients receive their care.
Qualifications:
- A minimum one year experience in patient education or a related field required and professional healthcare experience
- Experience in program development and evaluation is required.
- Experience in evidence-based research and evaluation an asset
- Excellent written, report writing and presentation skills
- Exemplary interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills including plain language editing
- High level of proficiency with MS Office applications and knowledge in web based applications
- Strong demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement
- Demonstrated appreciation of issues involving client/staff/employee/employer privacy and confidentiality in a multifaceted health care facility.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Excellent organizational, information/data management skills, and well developed judgment
- Excellent conflict resolution, decision making and relationship building skills
- Self-motivated; contributes to all aspects of the team
- Baccalaureate preparation in health, communication or education with a concentrated focus in adult education preferred.
- Masters degree in a related field preferred.
