What you’ll do
- In collaboration with the Vice President/designates and Program Management Team, participate in the strategic planning process and implement operational plans, policies and procedures in specific programs. Integrate specific goals and objectives into the activities of the clinical services ensuring linkages with individual performance plans and quality management initiatives.
- Accountable for the recruitment process of interviewing and hiring general duty nursing and other designated staff in collaboration with appropriate members of clinical and/or Program Management Teams including the Professional Practice Leaders. In conjunction with BCW’s leaders and Human Resources, develop, implement and evaluate recruitment and retention programs for staff. Manage service area operations by assessing and monitoring staff/patient ratios and supplies based on patient acuity and staff skill level.
- Responsible for the performance management process for designated staff, including ongoing coaching and mentoring, and formal performance reviews. Labour relations responsibility includes directing the disciplinary process up to and including termination of employment, and grievance responses up to Step 2 and/or Step 3, and approving proposals to resolve grievances.
- In collaboration with the management team, liaises with Learning and Development to ensure appropriate education sessions are in place for staff including multidisciplinary education sessions. Work with programs and Learning and Development consultants to develop, revise and track pamphlet and other educational resource availability.
- Provide leadership in service development and planning activities through work groups and projects; monitors progress and outcomes. Initiate, recommend, implement and evaluate objectives, policies and procedure, and standards of nursing practice related to patient/family care.
- Collaborate with Medical, Program Leader(s) and Professional Practice Leaders to monitor quality outcomes, and assists in the development of methodologies, quality indicators, and evidence based outcomes. Assist with accreditation/audit activities and oversees risk management activities as directed by the Management Team.
- Monitor requests for overtime, vacation, leaves of absence, and sick time for general duty nurses, paramedical staff and designated staff. Manage time keeping and payroll processes for designated staff.
- Prepare, monitor, and analyze staffing and operating and capital budgets for specific cost centres related to assigned programs. Responsible for allocating and managing the available resources within these budgets to ensure the delivery of services within the program. Substantiate variances in budgets to Program Leadership, and adjusts spending to keep within budget allocation.

Qualifications
- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or a healthcare related degree from an accredited University, plus a minimum of seven (7) years recent related clinical experience. This will include two (2) years working in a managerial/leadership capacity.
- Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) will be required.

- Strong operational management skills and demonstrated understanding or experience with quality assurance, operational planning and program management.
- Critical thinking skills and proven ability to effectively manage human and fiscal resources.
- Proven leadership ability, with communication and interpersonal skills conducive to interacting in a multidisciplinary environment and liaising with staff, patients, and families.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).

Job Type: Regular, Full-Time
Salary Range: $102,938 – $147,974/year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
