Job description: Your Opportunity:
The successful applicant will work within the Adult Rehabilitation Division offering psychological services to adults on an inpatient or outpatient basis. Duties will include assessment and psychological intervention services (individual and/or group) to a variety of diagnostic groups (acquired brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, ortho/amp or general neurology). Psychology services are provided within the framework of a supportive multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary team. Other responsibilities may include consultation, education to family and/or community service providers, transition planning, provision of information about specialized community resources and facilitating appropriate referrals as needed. Working with psychometrists and/or pre-doctoral residents is also expected. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a large psychology department within a tertiary rehabilitation setting. Opportunities for continuing education, mentoring, consultation and collaboration exist.
Description:
As a Psychologist II, you will provide advanced clinical services (including psychological assessment, diagnosis and/or intervention), consultation and education to the interprofessional team and patients/families, and/or provides clinical leadership and coordination in an assigned program area. This is an advanced level psychology position that will allow you to work with or within teams to provide and inform services for patients with complex and multi-dimensional medical, psychological, interpersonal, environmental and/or instrumental needs. You will consult, collaborate, and enact initiatives to ensure that practices are evidence based and in alignment with psychology standards of practice and code of ethics, as well as policy, legislation and regulations. You will be expected to lead, facilitate and/or participate in program, policy, and procedure development, service planning, staff development, quality improvement and evaluation, and/or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s). You may provide supervision to doctoral level psychology residents, master’s level interns, provisional psychologists, psychometrists and other team members.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) program. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). Additional Required Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from an accredited university program is required, with preference given to candidates who have completed an accredited internship/residency. Registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists is required; supervision may be arranged for a qualified individual with provisional registration. Advanced knowledge and skills in assessment and treatment are required. Experience working with individuals from across the lifespan (i.e., children through adults) with a variety of presenting issues is an asset as opportunities within the pediatric division may also be available for suitable candidates with experience and specific clinical interest in this area. Preference will be given to those candidates who have prior experience working in a multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary rehabilitation setting. Strong written and oral communication skills are required. The ability to relate to clients, family members, and other service providers (including multidisciplinary team members) in a collaborative and professional manner is essential. The successful candidate will be responsible to provide proof of active registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) and to maintain registration throughout the duration of employment.
