Summary

This individual is responsible for planning and coordinating the Raw Product activities on a shift in coordination with Shift Manager direction and production planning. This job will plan and recommend changes in raw product blends on shift to ensure that the best possible utilization of the raw to meet or exceed customer expectations. They will advise the Shift Manager of current conditions and support the Shift Managers accountability in their areas. This job will function primarily as a coordinator and facilitator of the routine operations of the Raw Product Area. There are 4 vacancies, 1 per shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans and coordinates the raw activities with Shift Management and other support personnel.
  • Is responsible for supporting, managing, or implementing Food Safety and Product Quality standards.
  • Assists in the training of employees in the raw area in the proper methods of equipment operation, record keeping, interdepartmental communication and all other necessary raw operational procedures.
  • Responsible for raw management to include unloading, sizing/ elimination, bin designation, line designation and execution of the raw plan in conjunction with raw procurement.
  • Leads, attends, and participates in training activities appropriate to the position and to incorporate acquired skills and knowledge.
  • Ensures Raw Product area is following specifications and monitoring raw coming into the plant for attributes and properly communicating to team.
  • Ensures manpower needs for functional area are provided for by selecting, coaching, training, and managing performance of crew. Monitors safety policies and procedures to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
  • Organizes day-to-day operation and determines work practices and procedures to optimize utilization of resources.
  • Ensures compliance to Company policy, procedures, and Union Agreement (where applicable). Ensures demonstrated leadership of team members and other support personnel is conducted in a participative management style conducive with operational goals.
  • Ensures that the raw receiving, peeling, cutting, sorting and starch area is operating as efficient as possible at all times in conjunction with changes in the process throughout each shift. This includes the development and implementation of process/productivity improvements that affect Safety, Quality, and/or Costs.
  • Ensures that raw product quality, food safety, and overall sanitation procedures and practices are meeting specification or standards.
  • Performs recordkeeping functions related to inventory, scheduling, parts ordering, employee files, etc.

Typical Education

  • Associate’s Degree (A.A. or equivalent)

Relevant Experience

  • Two plus years related experience and/or training.
  • Basic supervision skills including listening, communication, delegation, and providing work direction.
  • Effective planning and organization skills to maximize routine and ongoing projects and tasks.
  • Interpersonal skills, communication and ability to maximize productivity within a team environment.
  • Works independently under general guidelines. Incumbent uses established procedures and standards giving direction to set priorities.
