Job description: Your Opportunity:

The primary focus of this role is to work with a variety of stakeholders and inter-departmental teams to support decision-makers and programs by providing research, evaluation and performance management services that support the development of best and promising practices and evidence-based addiction and mental health services. The services of the Decision Support Services (DSS) Team are in high demand and they support initiatives across all parts of Addiction & Mental Health Services. This role includes: planning, organizing, and conducting projects by setting goals and objectives, defining and managing multiple concurrent projects (including meeting deliverables and timelines). The major responsibilities of this position include designing projects, establishing evaluation frameworks, planning, and collecting, and entering, processing and analyzing data. Report writing and dissemination of results are also a considerable responsibility. Providing support in situations where needs are ambiguous and where conflicting views, goals, and priorities are present is another key responsibility of this position. This position will also require to take on a leadership role in a project.

Description:

As a Research Assistant, you will be part of the Decision Support Services team which supports all aspects of research, evaluation, and performance management initiatives for Addiction and Mental Health, Edmonton Zone. Using a wide range of specialized skills in the areas of evaluation, research, and performance management, you will support decision-makers and programs by providing services that support the development of best and promising practices and evidence-based addiction and mental health services. The team works in collaboration with various stakeholders including clinical staff, management, and executives.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor’s degree in the social or behavioural sciences, social work or health related field. Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a research setting. Prior direct experience of conducting research and evaluation projects for Addiction and Mental Health programs. Proficiency and/or superior skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.), statistical software (e.g. SPSS, SAS), qualitative analysis software (e.g., NVivo). Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of a broad range of health research/evaluation methodologies, program development tools, data collection procedures, and development and management of databases or information systems. Critical thinking skills in the collection and analysis of data. Experience in grant preparation, report writing and oral presentations, coordination and implementation of projects, and ability to manage multiple activities and ever changing priorities.
