Position Summary
We are seeking to identify a qualified candidate to join a team of scientific and clinical investigators as a Research Clerk within the Surgical Oncology – Urology department at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. The Research Clerk works closely with the team to maintain research databases, performing medical chart review and data abstraction, and assist with research administrative tasks. The successful candidate will have outstanding organizational skills with the capacity to ensure proper compliance with research protocols. Proficiency in English with excellent communication skills will be required.
Duties
- Provides data entry and word processing/typing services.
- Performs additional clerical functions (e.g., requisitions office and/or lab supplies; sorts/distributes mail; photocopies documents).
- Assists in the modification and maintenance of electronic and paper data filing systems.
- Contributes to the maintenance of accurate data necessary for efficient department/research operations.
- May obtain medical data on research subjects from registries or other hospitals.
- May collect, print and transcribe study data from EPR system.
Qualifications
- At minimum, a completion of a Bachelor’s degree program, or recognized equivalent in Health or Science Related Discipline
- Minimum 6 months related experience.
- General knowledge of research methodology and clinical research ethics
- Experience working with databases
- Excellent organizational, time management and problem solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills; able to work individually as well as part of a team
- Ability to work under pressure with attention to detail
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards
- Ability to perform multiple concurrent tasks
- Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
- Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
- Satisfactory attendance
