Position Summary
Interior Health has an exciting Casual opportunity available within our dynamic team in Mental Health with the Castlegar District Hospital.

A successful candidate is required to have two years recent related experience in a mental health and substance use environment, preferably in healthcare. If you have strong assessment and intake skills and are comfortable responding to crisis situations in the community, apply today to join our team.

The Rural and Remote Adult Worker functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary team. The MHSU Program serves the adult and elderly population that experiences mental health disorders or substance use and impairment in personal, family, financial, occupational and/or social life. This includes individuals with acute psychosis, bizarre behaviour, depression, anxiety, complicated grief, suicidal ideation, substance use, substance dependence and concurrent disorders.

The primary duties include intake assessment, crisis intervention, referral, case management, psychogeriatric support, collaborative community planning, psycho-education with clients and their families, and liaison with appropriate professionals. Duties include urgent response intervention to individuals in acute crisis, consultation with other care providers to identify educational needs for the community and subsequent strategies to address these needs, and to coordinate services for adults and elderly with mental health and/or substance use problems.

Most shifts are scheduled Monday to Friday Days (08:30 to 16:30 hours) with evenings and/or weekends off.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in a Health, Behavioural or Social Science related field, from an accredited university.

Two (2) years recent related experience in a community mental health and/or substance use setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current valid BC driver’s license.
