Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Director of Construction to lead the governance and strategic direction of all construction projects within our Construction Division. As the Senior Director of Construction, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful planning, execution, and completion of various construction projects. Your responsibilities will include coordinating activities, ensuring compliance, providing technical advice, and maintaining strong communication with stakeholders.

How will you make an impact:

  • Plan, direct and coordinate activities of each construction project
  • Ensure compliance to a work plan and staffing for each phase of the project
  • Develop and manage project communications to ensure all key stakeholders are kept connected to project status, issues, risks and program needs
  • Provide technical advice to the PM team and help resolve issues in proactive manner
  • Ensure all legal requirements, building and health and safety codes, safety inspections, city guidelines, and local, provincial and federal regulations are met before commencement of project
  • Ensure scope of project, budget constraints and safety concerns are identified and documented for
  • Ensure project is completed within the prescribed time frame and funding
  • Ability to effectively engage with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Support Senior VP in establishing a robust center of excellence
  • Set standards for project management, including certifications, qualifications and KPIs
  • Manage the prioritization of projects proposed by each of the business units
  • Provide executive leaders with the information needed
  • Interface with executives to define project priorities and implementation opportunities
  • Provide recommendations to ensure proper investments
  • Provide leadership to ensure assigned staff successfully achieves Company goals
  • Set annual performance targets
  • Define team roles and responsibilities

About you:

  • An undergraduate degree in Business Administration, construction management, or equivalent work experience in managing multiple complex construction projects
  • 7+ years of experience in project and/or change management
  • PMP, certification would be an asset
  • Exceptional Computer skills (Smartsheet, Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of construction software such as e-Builder
  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles
  • Knowledge of Construction Law across Canada
  • Expert-level knowledge of project and change management, agile thinking
  • Ability to motivate, empower and develop a multi-disciplinary team
