Job title: STO 15 – Water Information Technician

Job description: This position works in the Water Authorization team in West Coast Regional Operations. The role of the Water Authorizations Team is to implement the Water Sustainability Act with a goal of achieving long term water sustainability through surface water and groundwater licensing and management. The work is primarily office based.

The Water Information Technician provides specialized technical support for the water allocation program. Operating with considerable independence, this position reviews applications for water licences, amendments to licences, abandonments and cancellations under the Water Sustainability Act. The Water Information Technician maintains the accuracy and integrity of provincial databases (e.g., ELicensing and GWells) using a variety of tools and applications.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Post-secondary education in a related area, or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
  • Experience in the interpretation of legislation and policy working with legal documents.
  • Experience managing the accuracy and integrity of data bases and using a variety of digital tools.

Preference may be given for one or both of the following:

  • Post-secondary education in natural resource management.
  • Experience working in a natural resource management.
