The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Supervisor, Warehouse to join our Warehouse Department in Sudbury. This is a permanent position.

The Warehouse Supervisor provides leadership to all aspects of warehouse operations and is responsible to manage unionized employees that requires previous experience with managing Collective Bargaining Agreements. The Warehouse Supervisor also ensures that warehousing processes comply to Vale’s norms and required internal and external auditing criteria.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take an active role in the health and safety of employees, participate in JHSC and safety meetings.
  • Provide hands-on leadership and mentoring to warehouse employees.
  • Manage efficient material handling and distribution centers that focuses on safety, productivity, and cost for Ontario Operations.
  • Manage teams and actively respond to employees’ concerns in a timely manner following the Collective bargaining agreement and applicable legislations.
  • Monitor service and handle Key Performance Indicators for the Inbound Logistics Area.
  • Support with the creation and execution of strategies to achieve established strategic goals.
  • Ensure care of physical assets including warehouse building, and all equipment.
  • Be an advocate for continuous improvement and warehouse integration into the Ontario Operations.

About You

Education

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency is required.
  • Undergraduate degree, diploma in Logistics/Warehouse Management or related discipline would be an asset.

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in warehousing, inventory management and logistics
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with materials management, logistics and people management.
  • Experience with unionized employees and working within a CBA.
  • Experience leading a team.

Skills

  • Strong computer skills, knowledge of software programs such as Microsoft Access & Excel, SAP, and Power BI is an asset.
  • A successful track record of high-volume materials handling and logistics coordination.
  • Developing strategic plans and creating Key Performance Indicators to track success.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Time management and delegation skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to have difficult conversations.
