Job description: The opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Purchasing, Freight and Logistics, the Team Lead role will oversee a team of expeditors and logistic professionals that ensure TC Energy materials are delivered to the right place, at the right time.
This includes responsibilities of informal leadership, as well as analysis, reporting and planning required to successfully execute on logistics requirements; successfully manage logistics, vendors and optimize freight and transportation spend. In this role, you will support the team by providing direction and guidance on the day to day operations. In addition, leading by example to ensure motivation and performance levels are maintained.
What youll do
 Work with the Manager to oversee the day to day activities of the SC Freight & Logistics team
 Work with Manager to develop short term and long term strategic plan for the freight and logistics function at TC Energy, factoring in the needs of the assets/operations, products, customers while fully leveraging technology, lean processes and team talent
 Delegate tasks and workload, as appropriate, and set deadlines for team
 Help develop, maintain and support SCM’s freight & transportation strategy, processes and procedures
 Maintain and analyze vendor data, monthly, for senior management reporting duties
 Create processes to support the business process
 Assist team members to meet project/initiative, schedule and quality on all requirements pertaining to expediting and logistics management best practices
 Utilize project management skills to manage multiple initiatives and provide progress reporting and status updates
 Conduct self-audits to assess gaps, and determine and implement corrective action
 Lead and practice an environment of continuous improvement to ensure optimization of the expediting and logistics programs
 Collaborate and coordinate the publication of training materials, FAQs cheat sheets, etc.
 Plan and coordinate training sessions as required (in person, via conference calls or WebEx sessions)
 Identify and eliminate freight contract value leakage
 Track freight cost savings and cost avoidance opportunities
 Provide recommendations on domestic and international trade terms to be used in contracts
Minimum Qualifications
 Bachelors degree in applicable discipline, and/or including an MBA with 6 years or more relevant SCM experience in fleet management, logistics, etc.
 Previous experience leading teams in SCM, Fleet & Logistics, Materials, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
 Demonstrates ability to apply Supply Chain Management expediting and logistics processes, tools and practices to provide transportation solutions
 Ability to identify efficiencies in workflow and processes
 Ability to identify and leverage technology to gain efficiencies, productivities, and automate any repetitive work
 Ability to lead initiatives and manage Change Management
 Successful application of business analysis and project management skills
 Strong Microsoft skills, particularly with Excel
 Strong presentation, oral and written communications skills
 Ability to work independently and within a team environment
