The incumbent will deliver Community Wellness and Protection Education programs to adults & youth within Indigenous communities, organizations and nations throughout Canada using virtual platforms and in-person platforms. The casual trainer position will contribute towards CRC commitments to the delivery of services demonstrating cultural safety and competence aligning with CRC’s Indigenous Peoples Framework and support staff within provinces and territories concerning the delivery of the social wellness trainings.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver Community Wellness and Protection Education to adults & youth in Indigenous schools, community settings or organizations.
  • Collaborate with Community Wellness and Protection Education Coordinator regarding all aspects of training: preparation, learning environment, logistics, learning challenges, participant issues and evaluations.
  • Effectively plan and prepare for each training session.
  • Tailor training approach to suit the needs of participants.
  • Distribute evaluations in each training.
  • Complete and submit Training Reports for every training conducted.
  • Attend Community Wellness and Protection Education and other Red Cross meetings as required.
  • Keep knowledge current through reading, workshops, conferences and other professional development.

What we are looking for:

  • Strong understanding of indigenous culture. Knowledge and experience related to Indigenous peoples and cultural considerations, including language, tradition, protocol, organizational structures and government, history, Indian Act and residential schools is essential.
  • Knowledge in the areas of family violence, program planning as well as excellent training & facilitation skills is also essential.
  • Post-secondary education in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field and at least 3 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience delivering workshops, training sessions and education programs.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with a variety of platforms and programs.
  • Experience in assessment and report generation.
  • Committed to fostering an environment of cultural and gender equality and diversity.
  • Experience working with diverse populations required and within Indigenous communities an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Indigenous language is an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Available to deliver training a minimum of 8 hours of training per month, typically over 4 days.
