We are seeking an Accounting Analyst to join our Vancouver office.
Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Analyst will be responsible for over-seeing the day-to-day functions of the Vancouver office accounting department. Work on local and national projects that relate to the accounting department and the accounting system. The incumbent will also provide coverage and back-up to AP Clerk, Trust Accountant and Billing Clerk during peak periods.
Major Roles and Responsibilities:
- All day to day accounting tasks, routine monthly and year-end journal entries, standard reports (financial and statistical), monthly reconciliation of accounts.
- Monthly trust account reconciliations.
- Manages national credit card receivable processing, posting and reconciling.
- Manages local projects related to the Accounting department and works closely with the national accounting staff on firm wide projects.
- Assists Lawyers & Assistants with questions & issues related to their stats, Dashboards and Aderant. Works with national accounting to resolve issues.
- Provides coverage & assistance to staff during peak workload & vacation periods.
- Assist with annual/ Law Society/Trust audits
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Legal College Diploma or University degree in Accounting plus 5 to 10 years related work experience. Supervisory experience an asset.
- Experience with various financial accounting systems, preferably Aderant
- Very good command of Excel and MS Office
- General understanding of Accounting policies and procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, detail oriented
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
