Job title: Accounting Analyst
Job description: Under general direction, the Accounting Analyst performs professional accounting tasks and analysis of financial data in support of various accounting functions that may include internal reporting, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Cost Accounting, Property Accounting, and/or General Accounting while maintaining focus on our shared goal of creating meaningful value and an exceptional experience for our customers, our people and our communities. This position also ensures accuracy and compliance with all applicable regulations and laws; and performs other related duties as required
- Ensure proper financial records, controls, and reporting for assigned portfolio
- Reconcile and maintain a full understanding of all balance sheet and income statements.
- Prepare detailed variance analysis of revenue and expenses
- Complete monthly and quarterly reporting for properties assigned, including reporting packages to be handed in with working papers
- Review and post monthly rent roll
- Set up new tenants and maintain tenant leases in Yardi
- Electronic Fund transfer set up and maintenance
- Prepare all CAM/TAX/Chargeback recoveries adjustment billings in accordance with the tenant leases
- Set up recovery profiles in Yardi for CAM/TAX recoveries
- Participation in annual budget and year end processes, as required. Complete accounting portion of assigned budgets within assigned deadlines
- Complete bank reconciliations, as requested
- Ensure all GST/HST are reconciled and remitted monthly
- Accounts receivable management–Review and monitor accounts receivable. Reconcile accounts receivable, tenant ledgers and prepaid rent
- Maintain all accounting files in an organized and efficient manner
- Process, record and monitor pre-authorized payment (PAP) invoices
- Assist the Divisional Controller with accounting-related tasks and/or special assignments as requested
- Demonstrate all values in tasks and duties completed and act with pride of ownership
- Maintain professionalism, efficiency, reliability and integrity throughout all interactions and decision making duties
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures including participation in on-going job related training

About You
- 2 to 3 year related post-secondary education and at least three years’ work related experience or five (5) years equivalent workplace experience
- Accounting designation or working towards a designation an asset
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer
- Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
- This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing in work areas and walking between work areas is required
- Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment
- Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances
- Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing Skyline policies and procedures
- Excellent accounting skills and ability to apply accounting theory, principals and techniques
- Practiced in the set up and maintenance of spreadsheets and databases
- Knowledgeable in auditing practices and principles
- Research, retrieve and organize data to prepare reports and financial documentation
- Analyze and audit data to detect and correct errors
- Multi-task effectively while remaining detail oriented and accurate
- Work independently as well as in a team environment
- Operate under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to speak and write effectively in English
- Ability to read and interpret documents as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees of the organization
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Good PC skills Word, Excel, e-mail/web
- Practiced in accounting software i.e. Simply Accounting, Accpac, Quickbooks, etc
- Familiarity with Yardi an asset
- Ability to set a positive example through adherence to Health & Safety practices and procedures
Salary
$50,000 – $60,000/year
