Job Description

The CPP Investments’ CPA Rotational Analyst Program is designed to attract, develop and retain top-caliber students seeking to pursue a CPA designation in our Finance, Analytics and Risk (FAR) department. CPP Investments is a CPA Ontario approved certificated organization and Rotational Analysts will experience two rotations within the eligible groups over a three-year period. Placements occur within different teams in the following groups: Assurance & Advisory, Operations, Finance, Risk and Business Intelligence. Rotations are assigned to help you achieve key competency development areas and business needs and provides sufficient experience and mentorship to gain your CPA designation. Rotational Analysts will acquire functional and leadership competencies and after successfully completing the two rotations, you will be placed full-time within one of the eligible groups.

Finance, Analytics & Risk (FAR) sets appropriate governance and controls for CPP Investments. The department establish the Fund’s risk appetite across all categories of risk. The department runs investment operations and provide tax support for all investment programs and leads strategy development and business planning for CPP Investments. The department equips the Investment Departments, Board of Directors and Senior Management Team with information and insights to support business activities and drive decisions across the organization.

As a Rotational Analyst you will join a Program that goes beyond technical components to include formal training, apprenticeship, mentoring and meaningful performance management. You will join CPP Investments’ LAUNCH Program as new graduates which is designed to help you learn about different strategies, technical requirements and thought process needed to become successful in the firm. You will be encouraged to ask questions, be engaged and pursue both formal and informal learning opportunities.

You will quickly advance your knowledge and expertise through skills-based training and stimulating on-the-job assignments working in a high performing and collaborative environment with colleagues who are leading experts in their field.

Overview of Participating Groups

Assurance & Advisory provides assurances that operating controls for governance, risk and processes safeguard CPP Investments’ assets and returns against undue risk.

Finance is responsible for the Fund’s financial policy, planning and reporting strategy; valuations; corporate and investment accounting; enterprise procurement and vendor governance; tax strategy, risk management and compliance and investment structure management.

Operations provides investment operations support covering end-to-end transaction process in public markets and for all private investments.

Risk & Business Intelligence integrates objective risk and performance insights into decision-making; ensure effective independent oversight and challenge; convey a single source of truth for internal reporting and strengthen the Fund’s resilience to withstand systematic gaps and adapt to new risk environments.

Qualifications

Who We’re Looking For:

• Candidates in an undergraduate or advanced degree program seeking to obtain their CPA designation who are able to start work in in the Fall of 2022 are eligible to apply.
• Candidates with a strong track record of academic success while balancing extracurricular activities.
• Candidates with a strong set of interpersonal, thought leadership, relationship building and communication skills.
• Candidates that often combine energy, enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity, with a demonstrated interest in accounting, finance and analytics.
• A completed Graduate Diploma in Accounting, or equivalent CPA modules, is required prior to start date.
