Global Finance plays a vital role in ensuring that HSBC manages costs and deploys capital in the most effective way. The team provides financial insight, accuracy and control, using analytical skills to support our Global Businesses and influence and challenge business decisions.

About the role:

This is a key business finance role that is focused on business partnering and driving business performance by providing insightful business performance analytics, highlighting risks and opportunities, and providing strong commercial finance support (e.g. pricing, ALCO, competitive analysis, client and product profitability, cost management).

Responsibilities:

  • Be a trusted partner with the Wholesale business and provide commercial and value add analytics and advice for sound decision making
  • Manage and develop technical financial analysis and modeling to support business result tracking and decision-making particularly in regards to client profitability. Provide performance review and benchmarking analysis of the supported business
  • Partner with Sr. Management to identify and evaluate opportunities and risks. Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis and prepare metrics on assigned business area to include product pricing, business lines, channels, customers, new business opportunities, forecasts, incentives, budgets, external forces and trends and/or cost-benefit analysis.
  • Support the development and review of business unit business plan and presentations
  • Prepare competitor analysis to assess performance versus peers
  • Provide financial oversight for various areas within business unit channels.
  • Supports the leaders of the CMB and GB Business in Canada.
  • Respond to requests and inquiries from senior management, business managers, product development and marketing to prepare analysis and metrics. Provide regular analysis and reports as well as analysis to support specific inquiries.
  • Build strong relationship with stakeholders in various areas including HSBC Canada Finance, Global Commercial Banking Finance, Risk, Business Management, Operation and HR
  • Provide leadership on projects to resolve issues and enhance analytical capability
  • Provide oversight of the Offshore team to ensure timely and accurate production of management and financial reports
  • Improve efficiency and effectiveness of the Business Finance team by initiating and driving changes to streamline processes
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy and maintain awareness of operational risk and minimize the likelihood of it occurring.

Requirements

  • 10 years of relevant experience (commercial banking preferable).
  • Bachelor’s degree. A post graduate degree preferred (eg MBA,CPA,CA or CFA).
  • Commercially minded.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical and financial modelling skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Essbase, TM1 and Qlik.
