Job Description
Reporting to the Vice-President of Finance and also working closely with the local General Manager, you will be responsible for leading all activities relating to finance and accounting and you will play a leading role in a dynamic and growth context where innovation and entrepreneurship are valued. Bromont Finances team and Edmonton Finances team will both report to that person.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Management of financial activities:
- Plan, direct and coordinate all operational functions relating to accounting and finance
- Evaluate current accounting activities, offer recommendations to improve them and implement new processes
- Define the requirements and participate in the improvement of the systems in place in order to enable an efficient and secure information technology solution to allow the future growth of the company as well as to ensure effective and efficient operations
- Coordinate the financial forecasting and budget process, analyze it and correct forecasts
- Train, supervise and support the team work in the execution of operational and financial activities
Risk management:
- Improve and ensure the maintenance of internal control systems to protect the company’s financial assets and to minimize financial risk
- Ensure that adequate controls are installed and that supporting documentation is approved and available so that all financial systems and controls pass independent and government audits
Contribution to growth:
- Participate in the evaluation of new growth opportunities, the development of new business, plans or budgets and the determination of the resulting performance
- Get involved with major suppliers, customer contracts and offers to ensure that financial terms and parameters are acceptable
PERSONAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- University degree in accounting, finance or business administration and hold an CPA accounting designation
- Eight years minimum experience in a similar position, ideally in a manufacturing environment operating under US GAAP and SOX;
- You have strong analytical skills to identify key problems, prepare and implement solutions;
- You have a solid knowledge of financial systems, integrated IT systems and various analytical tools;
- Bilingualism French and English, spoken and written, is required.
- Knowledge of English language is required as this position support Alberta business units and works country-wide with other Finance leads.
