About this opportunity

Our client and its affiliate is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated professional for the position of Finance Manager. The Finance Manager will be responsible for the accounting, reporting and systems processes for the company.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare management accounts and reports including variance analysis against budget, forecast and prior periods
  • Assist in preparation of annual budget and periodic reforecast, including projections for P&L and Balance Sheet, and work closely with Capital and Risk Analyst to build and parameterize the various models for this
  • Prepare annual audited financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
  • Assistance with foreign exchange hedging strategy and execution
  • Prepare annual Bermuda regulatory filings and ensure compliance with applicable Bermuda law and regulations
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures and ensure financial statements and underwriting-related transactions are prepared in accordance with US GAAP
  • Develop, implement and maintain process documentation and controls over financial reporting and compliance
  • Manage automation initiatives with a focus on the integrity of the financial data, processes and controls
  • Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and drive the execution of team deliverables
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors and other third-party service providers
  • Interact with the Bermuda based CFO and work closely with affiliated entities and third-party service providers
  • Other duties as assigned

What you’ll need

  • Internationally recognized accounting designation Le. CPA, CA, ACCA or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years or more experience within a re/insurance or auditing firm working with reinsurance entities
  • Good knowledge of relevant reinsurance accounting treatment and investment accounting
  • In-depth and current knowledge of US GAAP and Bermuda insurance regulations
  • Advanced MS Excel skills and the ability to navigate complex spreadsheets
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to project manage system implementations and improvements, and to develop automation processes
  • Demonstrable ability to adapt and manage change effectively and can work well within a fast-paced and evolving work environment
