Responsibilities

Participate with the planning, preparation and completion of audit engagements (primarily for Public Companies)
Prepare appropriate client correspondence and various other audit related reports, as required
Identify and research potential resolutions for technical IFRS and/or US GAAP accounting issues that arise during engagement procedures
Perform first review of financial statements for appropriate disclosure in accordance with IFRS and/or US GAAP
Monitor the progress of work being completed on the files and communicate updates to manager and partners
Establish and maintain communication with clients as necessary, including coordinating onsite visits and engagement timing
Develop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses and industry
Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
Raise awareness of MNP at community events
Attend internal MNP courses to further develop your accounting and assurance knowledge
Study for CPA while working; effectively manage both work and studies

Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration (Accounting or Finance major preferred)
Enrolled in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP)
1 to 2 years of relevant accounting experience; working with public company engagements preferred
Experience working with, or exposure to, accounting and tax software such as Caseware, Profile, Quickbooks and Simply Accounting is beneficial
Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) is considered an asset
Some travel may be required
