Job description: We are looking for a backup for Payroll first and then some accounting experience as a bonus. $65,000.00 to 75 000.00 depending on experience is the range.
We are seeking a dedicated Accounting & Payroll Administrator to become an integral part of our clients finance team in *Saskatchewan. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a blend of general accounting and payroll tasks, encompassing routine and occasional accounting responsibilities, and providing essential support for payroll processing. Additionally, this role includes the provision of full backup for the Payroll Specialist when required. This position directly reports to Manager of Accounting and may be based at any of the following client locations in Saskatchewan. *Swift Current, Yorkton, Preeceville, Kindersley or Moosomin.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer crucial assistance with various daily and monthly accounting tasks.
- Collaborate in the monthly closure of the general ledger and participate in the preparation of month-end schedules.
- Assist in collecting the necessary information to facilitate accurate payroll processing.
- Monitor time reporting to prevent payroll errors and promptly rectify any discrepancies.
- Demonstrate discretion and sound judgment in managing confidential and sensitive information.
- Undertake other tasks and assignments as directed.
Experience and Qualifications:
- A minimum of Grade 12 education is required. A certification or diploma in Business, Accounting, or Commerce would be advantageous, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Prior experience in general accounting and payroll processing is preferred.
- Familiarity with labor laws in Saskatchewan and Manitoba is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of the agriculture industry will be considered a valuable asset.
- A solid understanding of accounting basics such as debits, credits, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and budgeting.
- Proficiency in standard desktop applications, including Microsoft Office, as well as internet functions. Exceptional skills in Excel and Equip are advantageous.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as required to meet the demands of the role.
