Job title: Accounting Technician
Job description: This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to expand on their tax knowledge within a large and fast-growing organization. As the Accounting Technician, you will have the opportunity to develop your financial reporting skills, including adherence to both IFRS and ASPE, as part of our annual financial statement audit.
Responsibilities:
- Tax research and analysis, including the preparation of memos to file to support filing positions
- Produce and maintain working papers, including supporting documentation for external auditors
- Preparation and filing of Indirect tax returns, including GST, PST and HST.
- Preparation of GST new housing rebates and self-assessments
- Liaise with the CRA on a variety of tax related matters on behalf of the corporate group
- Assist with preparation of tax returns – personal (T1), corporate (T2), and trust (T3)
- Assist with preparation of information returns, including partnership (T5013), statements of investment income (T5), and statements of contract payments (T5018)
- Assist with corporate reorganizations with the goal of optimizing our corporate structure and maintaining tax efficiency
- Liaise with external tax advisors and auditors
- Assist with ad hoc tax and financial reporting matters as they arise
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or experience equivalent
- Minimum two years related experience, either in public practice or in a related industry
- CPA candidacy or designation is an asset
- Proficiency with tax preparation software and MS Office applications
- Critical and analytical thinking
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
