Job description: Your Opportunity:
The Pediatric Clinical Assistant – Referral Triage Entry position is responsible for the accessioning of incoming referrals into the patient electronic medical record (EMR), tracking and investigating changes in referral status, and ensuring the efficient flow of new patient information into the clinical scheduling system for over 10,000 referrals received per annum. Duties include, but are not limited to, the reviewing, and discrete entry of confidential health information into the patient electronic medical record (EMR), scanning medical documents, preparing and disseminating standardize notifications to patients and referring providers about referral status, managing/monitoring outgoing and previous placed requests to physician pools for referral triage, and maintaining the referral database for over one hundred (100) physicians and allied health professionals practicing in over sixty (60) subspecialty clinics across approximately thirteen (13) divisions in the Department of Pediatrics. The position is a frontline AUPE – GSS union position and reports to the Team Lead of Pediatric Clinical Services within the Pediatric Clinical Services Team.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Additional Required Qualifications:
Must have Grade 12 Diploma in addition to Medical Office Assistant or Secretarial training with Minimum (2) years administrative experience in a medical office or clinical setting. Proof of successful formal training and/or advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Training in position-related software: Connect Care, eclinician, RightFax Telehealth. Understanding of how FOIP and the Health Information Act apply to this role. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Able to think critically with demonstrated ability in problem-solving complex issues. Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to interpret client needs, identify discrepancies, assess requirements and identify solutions to non-standard requests. Ability to employ self-sufficiency to work in areas of ambiguity and seek assistance as required. Intermediate experience working with electronic medical records with a proven ability to manage patient records with confidentiality and accuracy. Able to work collaboratively under moderate supervision in a fast-paced environment with shared work pools and high rates of change. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications:
Proof of Medical Terminology certificate/course and experience in call center environment.
