KEY OBJECTIVE:
The AVP, Reinsurance Accounting Manager oversees a team of 5 to 10 reinsurance accountants responsible for the processing, analyzing and settling of assumed and ceded reinsurance activities for Chubb Tempest Re operations around the world.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the timely booking of assumed and retroceded reinsurance transactions (proportional and non-proportional).
- Oversee the timely receipt of Bordereaux, Premium adjustments and adjustable features on assumed reinsurance treaties.
- Oversee the timely collection and payments of premium and claims and report on aged receivables.
- Oversee the preparation of outwards reinsurance reporting (affiliate and third party).
- Oversee the maintenance of collateral.
- Manage the annual IFC application process.
- Engage direct reports through career path development, empowerment of each individual on the team, and elevation of the performance of the group.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (accounting designation CA, CGA or CMA an asset)
- Experience in the reinsurance/insurance industry; minimum 10 years of related work experience, including a minimum of five years of experience in managing direct reports and team performance.
- High level of proficiency in working with MS Excel.
- Strong analytical abilities combined with a good business sense, and the ability to influence others in the organization both upward and laterally.
- Excellent time management skills and attention to detail, including the ability to foresee future needs, plan deadlines and effectively communicate those deadlines to others.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English and French (both written and oral).
