One of our government clients is looking for Bilingual (French) IT Infrastructure Manager- Government

Length: 12 months contract with a possibility of extension

Location: Ottawa, ON & Montreal, QC

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Deputy Director IS – Infrastructure, the IT manager infrastructure will have to administer and configure operations relating to the management of networks, servers, and telecommunications links between various Council sites.

STRATEGY AND PLANNING

· Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans for ensure that a certain capacity of the network meets current requirements and future.

· Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for the administration of network resources and their proper use.

· Developed and deployed methodologies to test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.

· Establish best practices and policies for the installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware, software, and peripherals of end user workstations.

· Practice network asset management, including inventory maintenance network components and related documentation.

· Established service level agreements with end users.

· Establish evaluation and continuous monitoring indicators allowing to measure the achievement of the targeted objectives.

· Implement controls to ensure that they comply with the Board directives and guidelines.

· Set goals for the team and make sure to provide mechanisms and strategies to promote the achievement of these.

· Propose and implement measures aimed at increasing the stability and network security to reduce delays and downtime.

· Plan, prepare and implement the continuous renewal of the architecture.

COUNCIL NETWORKING

· Ensure technological watch, see to technological progress, and ensure the management third-level technical problems related to the network architecture.

· Act as an expert consultant in the management of networks and systems.

· Plan the purchases and renewal of network and head office equipment social.

· Participate in the recruitment of employees under his responsibility, train them, supervise them and evaluate their performance.

· Ensure the proper functioning of the network by replacing and/or migration of old hardware and/or software to more modern equipment and more efficient.

· Supervise and manage an interconnectivity system between the various sites of the Advice.

· Supervise and manage an access system to the Council’s network.

· Supervise and manage a system allowing users to access their documents.

· Ensure that the networks are always functional through a system of 24-hour surveillance.

· Intervene as quickly as possible to restart the services in the event of breakage including evenings and weekends.

· Support and guide school technicians in the event of major problems and network architecture issues.

· Supervise the implementation of infrastructure security assurance tools computer science.

· Organize important updates requiring a shutdown of services.

· Establish directives related to the sound management of the networks.

· Respond to requests for information, reports, or lists.

· Create and maintain a synergy of collaboration within the department, with schools and with the other administrative services of the Council as well as with external agencies.

· Create and maintain partnerships with external organizations.

· Participate in committees and meetings.

· Supervise and coordinate the work of the network management team.

· Monitored the quality and performance of the long-distance network.

· Ensure the ethical management and maintenance of the confidentiality of data and information on the Council’s network and various servers

.

· Perform research and feasibility studies on new networking technologies and architectures.

· Manage budget accounts associated with network management.

· Perform frequent monitoring of connection speed and data usage network bandwidth and quality in order to maximize access to various resources internal to the Council and on the internet.

· Develop mechanisms that allow the detection and correction of inconsistencies.

· Compile statistics and prepare reports.

· Carry out research, collect all the relevant elements to clearly identify the problematic and develop action plans.

· Establish and maintain checklists and records.

· Set work objectives that align with the vision of your department.

· Provide support to co-workers and take responsibility for their team and its department to update the targeted objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· University degree in computer science or any other related field

· Advanced computer skills

· Knowledge of the Access to Information Act municipal information and the protection of life private

· Mastery of the French language and the language oral and written English

· Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in duties related to the position
