Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Registered Nurse with a Master’s Degree to join the Speciality Education team at Vancouver General Hospital and various regional VCH sites. Apply today to join our team!
As a Clinical Lead at VCH you will:
- Be responsible for supporting the department’s vision of ‘Leading Learning, Partnering for Potential’, and through the lens of the Education philosophy, utilize evidence informed education theory to inform programming and practice standards for the Regional Perioperative Education Program (RPEP).
- Be responsible for the overall success of the RPEP program implementation and sustainability across VCH, and review and monitor related policies, procedures, and/or guidelines.
- Administrate/oversee and provide supervision to RPEP educators and program assistants including continuous communication, conflict resolution, performance recognition, coaching, performance management, safe work practices, workload and staffing issues.
- Administer, promote, and oversee the ongoing development of RPEP CNEs to promote quality education environments to support the learning needs of OR nurse trainees.
- Coach RPEP CNEs to achieve both teaching and trainee performance excellence.
- Oversee all aspects of RPEP delivery and the daily operational activities.
- Liaise with key stakeholders on the achievement of quality indicators and program goals and objectives.
- Lead and be responsible for the coordination and delivery of RPEP, develop program initiatives, and implement a substantive evaluation process to ensure appropriate learning needs are met.
- Demonstrate nimble and creative approaches to education.
- Partner with Managers, OR site leadership, and schools of nursing, to ensure the overall success and growth of RPEP and delivery across the organization.
- Review, monitor, and implement policies, procedures, and standards relating to education activities.
- Be a positive, professional, informed role model across the organization and with peers in the industry.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
- Baccalaureate in Nursing. Master’s Degree in either Nursing or Education completed or in progress.
- Five (5) years’ recent, related progressive nursing education experience in an Operating Room or in the Regional Perioperative Education Program (RPEP) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Valid BC Driver’s license may be required due to Regional scope of role, for which mileage reimbursement will be paid in accordance with the collective agreement.

- Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles and practices.
- Knowledge of program evaluation approaches and outcome measurement.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to function as a strong leader, motivator, coach/mentor and as a strong team member.
- Demonstrated ability to continuously communicate effectively and strategically with colleagues, stakeholders, and health care staff, both one-on-one and in groups.
- Utilizes strong critical thinking skills when making decisions, resolving issues/conflict.
- Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events, problem solve, and deal effectively with and guide others in resolution of conflict issues.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and resolving conflict.

- Comprehensive knowledge of issues in relevant service area including current trends, best practices and modalities of treatment.
- Advanced computer literacy to operate a computerized client care information system and word processing, spreadsheet, databases, Internet and e-mail software.
The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
