Job Description & Summary A career in our Cloud Finance practice will provide you with the opportunity to help private companies with a range of business advisory services to resolve their day-to-day business issues and to help them achieve long-term success. Our team provides virtual, outsourced accounting solutions including monthly accounting, preparing monthly reporting packages, providing controller-level review and strategic business advice. You will focus on planning and executing monthly accounting engagements, preparing and reviewing monthly reporting packages and other client deliverables; preparing GST returns.

What you’ll create and do

The Cloud Finance practice provides support with transactional accounting and monthly reporting to small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) including payroll services. Tax expertise is not required for this role.

As a Manager, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution, with a specific focus on employment tax and payroll compliance.

Consistently deliver on multiple commitments which may include:

Proactively assist in the management of a portfolio of clients, while reporting to Senior Managers and Partners;

Review and deliver monthly payroll compliance to owners/management;

Be proactively involved in the payroll strategy of clients;

Build rapport and develop relationship with clients;

Be actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients;

Contribute to the development of your own and your team’s technical acumen;

Train, coach, and supervise staff;

Keep up to date with local and national business and economic issues;

Seek opportunities to learn about how PwC works as a global network of firms;

Share, collaborate and communicate confidently in a clear, concise and articulate manner – verbally and written;

Follow risk management and compliance procedures;

Build and maintain an internal and external network;

Uphold the firm’s code of ethics and business conduct.

Your work will be primarily:

The Cloud Finance practice provides support with transactional accounting, payroll and monthly reporting to small and medium sized businesses (SMBs). Tax expertise is not required for this role;

Client/Engagement Management (60%):

Plan engagements:

Meet with the client to identify expectations, issues and challenges, estimate fees for service value provided, establish the service approach for the engagement considering the accounting review and tax issues and make effective use of team members’ skills

Work with Partner or client lead as necessary

Manage engagements:

Review work from the team, manage interpersonal relations, mentor team members, demonstrate strong technical knowledge in employment tax and payroll delivery ASPE and Tax and have ability to research issues, present alternatives and conclusions, monitor and adjust the progress of team members towards completion and communicate with the Partner with respect to the engagement process

Consult with clients on their employment, and payroll compliance and processing queries

Complete engagements:

Take full ownership of Caseware and Tax Prep and external file completion, analyze engagement economics, draft final billing for Partner review, deliver meaningful individual performance evaluations on a timely basis, develop strong client relationships and identify potential opportunities to provide additional services

Practice Management (15%):

Provide coaching for staff development and performance management, instruct training courses to staff, network in the local business community, participate in firm business development initiatives, prepare and deliver competitive proposals and participate in recruiting activities.

People Development (20%)

Develops the capabilities of junior staff through coaching, knowledge transfer, internal training delivery, and assignment of challenging work opportunities.

Contributes to the successful recruitment of new talent

Other tasks & responsibilities as assigned (5%)

Assist with special projects for the Department as required.

Experience in multi provincial payroll rules and regulations.

Strong understanding of employment tax rules and regulations

Strong knowledge in Canadian payroll landscape including the province of Quebec

Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Excellent organizational skills, a positive attitude and an ability to work effectively under pressure are desirable.

Highly developed prioritization and project management skills and highly efficient at multitasking with a high attention to detail.

Superior communication (oral or written) and interpersonal skills that allow you thrive in a team environment;
