Job description: We have an exciting opportunity in a company that is making a genuine difference. Saltworks Technologies ( ) is a profitable and growing technology leader in Advanced Industrial Desalination and Lithium Refining. Our innovative machines are installed globally, treating industrial water for products you use every day. We are also helping to propel the electric vehicle revolution by mining lithium from water.

Located in Richmond, BC, we offer meaningful and exciting work in a collaborative environment, driven by innovation and problem-solving. We strongly value a positive attitude, hard work, smarts, and commitment to seeing things through.

The role:

If you have an Engineering degree or diploma and are interested in delivering systems/projects to completion, the Commissioning Engineer/Technologist role at Saltworks might be for you.

As a Commissioning Engineer/Technologist, you will play a pivotal role in the successful implementation of our systems in 2 ways: * You will work with multiple teams (internally) to test and commission full scale water treatment systems on our factory floor; and

  • Once the systems are shipped to customer sites, you will work directly with customers to facilitate site commissioning.

On average, the work will be 50% at customer sites and 50% at our headquarters. Field shifts generally require 2-3 weeks at site, followed by a similar time at headquarters. Further afield locations may require longer time periods at site.

At Saltworks, we believe in fostering a learning environment. As such, you will gain industrial system testing and commissioning skills while being trained and mentored by project managers and senior leaders.

Here is what the role entails:

  • Working closely with the Project Management Office (PMO) and other Engineering teams to support the entire commissioning project lifecycle. This involves:
  • Developing and implementing efficient and standardized procedures for factory and site commissioning, while enhancing our cutting-edge industrial desalination and resource recovery plants.
  • Engaging in detailed commissioning planning.
  • Testing and commissioning innovative clean technology solutions within our collaborative and forward-thinking work culture.
  • Representing Saltworks at customer job sites to deliver high-quality system/plant commissioning and ensuring a seamless handover to customers (regular international travel will be required).
  • Bringing forward design feedback, driving continuous improvement and innovation within our engineering teams.
  • Opportunities to become a subject matter expert, enabling you to keep and expand technical skills while also developing project management skills (with full management support).

You will be a great fit if you have:

  • No travel constraints: You must have a valid passport and must be able to travel to customer sites internationally.
  • A relevant Engineering degree or diploma in any of the following disciplines: Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Controls, or Integrated.
  • 1-2 years of relevant post-graduation working experience as an Engineer/Technologist in an industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with industrial safety standards pertaining to mechanically and electrically energized systems.
  • A proven track record of delivering high-quality commissioning work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
  • Proficiency and hands-on experience in hydrostatic testing, mechanical and electrical commissioning, process control commissioning, and field commissioning.
  • Collaborating with multiple stakeholders to ensure commissioning processes are safe.
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills, adept in risk management, and an excellent troubleshooting mindset.

This position also requires these universal skill sets:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well within a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and maintain a high quality of work and quickly learn new skills.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and a sense of urgency in completing projects on time.
  • Strong commitment to delivering high quality work, while meeting deadlines.
  • Positive attitude, can-do approach, and willingness to roll up your sleeves and pitch in as required.
  • Hands-on tooling and troubleshooting skills (not essential, yet beneficial).
