Salary Range: Starting salary at $65,100, based on a 35-hour work week. Salary for this position will commensurate with each individual’s education and/or experience as it relates to the position.
Location: Hybrid/Remote within Alberta with preference to be located in Edmonton.

What You Will Do
As the Communications Specialist, you will apply your creative expertise in support of conservation program delivery, marketing, and development programs.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Leading development of a strategic communications plan, which includes annual work plan, budget, and timelines.
- Collaborating with the Manager of Provincial Operations (MPO) and Program Heads to develop internal and external communications promoting DUC programs in Alberta.
- Leading the preparation and deployment of various campaigns, promotions, and communication materials.
- Tracking and monitoring delivery of communications programs and providing regular status reports to the MPO.
- Keeping the public engaged by sharing DUC social media communications within their local area.
- Providing provincial advice and support to the National Communications Team, as they deliver broader media relations programs.

Requirements
- Diploma in marketing/business, journalism, science, or a related field, with relevant work experience
- Minimum of three years’ experience in producing collateral pieces, including innovative promotion materials
- Extensive knowledge of and experience with communication principles, including appropriate tools and tactics used to reach and influence key audiences in support of national/regional conservation goals
- Familiarity/experience with agriculture in Alberta would be a distinct asset
- Ability to use planning systems to help deliver projects (media release distribution, content management system for web updates, Salesforce/Marketing Cloud, or communications distribution)
- Proven experience in media engagement and communication engagement
- Strong writing, media relations, and interpersonal skills.
- Must be comfortable with using video conference tools such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
