Job Details
Position Title: Coordinator, Contracts and Finance
Status: Full-time Support
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Department: Student Services, University of Guelph-Humber
Campus/Location: University of Guelph-Humber
Payband/Hourly Rate Range: Payband G $30.56 – $35.42
What you will do:
The incumbent is responsible for providing legal, financial, and administrative support for a variety of departments and functions in the Office of Student Services at the University of Guelph-Humber. Specific departments include, Student Life, Career Services, Placement Services and Alumni Programs.
The incumbent reports to and works closely with, the Department Head, Student Services to handle multiple responsibilities and solve complex problems in a fast paced and challenging environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; building and managing the formal partnership agreement process for student placements across all programs; liaising with legal counsel and other key stakeholders from the University of Guelph, Humber College and partner sites to build, analyze and facilitate the completion of complex agreements to satisfy all stakeholders and achieve desired outcomes for UofGH. The incumbent must determine and implement appropriate strategies in order to reach consensus among partners with divergent views, and apply sharp analytical skills to identify and resolve potential issues.
Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for monitoring; reviewing and reporting on six separate budgets under the Student Services umbrella including; Student Life, Career Services, Alumni Programs, Convocation and two University of Guelph accounts. The incumbent oversees the purchasing requirements for all units and acts as the financial designate for the Department Head, Student Services. Strong interpersonal skills, a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality are required to provide a variety of reports and information designed to support departments in managing their finances. This position involves many deadlines and the timely and accurate preparation of information and reporting is critical.
The duties of this position require knowledge of the education and financial environment as a whole, and involves dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
Qualifications
What you bring to the role:
Education
- Minimun 4 year degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field of study
Experience & Skills
- Strong academic background, including an undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field
- Experience working in a post-secondary institution, Student Services environment or other complex organization.
- Strong analytical skills; specifically, the ability to assess and breakdown processes
- Experience working in a legal office, working with contracts or agreements is considered an asset
- Ability to Analyze financial information (e.g. revenues, expenditures) across several budgets and ensure all operations fall within primary budget limitations
- Identify variances between actual and budgeted financial results at the end of each reporting period for each budget unit
- Excellent numeracy skills with an attention to detail
- Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner
- Demonstrated ability to build consensus through communication
- Strong communication and relationship building skills
- Working knowledge of University of Guelph and Humber College software (e.g. Office 365, Banner Finance);
- Advanced capability with word processing applications (MS Word) and intermediate level with spreadsheet applications (Excel) and MS Office (PowerPoint, Access, Visio, Adobe);
