Another amazing job opportunity through Recruitment Partners! Our Edmonton client is looking for a Director of Finance to oversee the modernization of critical back-office function. The Director of Finance will take ownership of several ongoing corporate modernization initiatives, including the implementation of new finance processes and the selection and implementation of new Enterprise Resource Planning solutions. As the senior finance leader in the organization, this role will play a significant role in the senior leadership team, providing financial and regulatory insight into all aspects of operations. Your success will be defined by your ability to:
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand current and future business needs
- Collaborating with senior stakeholders to create buy-in around changes
- Validating and prioritizing investments based on organizational readiness and capacity
- Identify any financial risks to the Leadership Team and recommend corrective action
- Lead a growing finance team in the preparation and analysis of accurate and timely financial and operational reporting
- Establish appropriate business processes and internal controls to safeguard company assets and facilitate efficient operations
- Oversee all accounting operations including maintenance of the general ledger, order to cash, procure to pay, capital asset management, inventory management, etc.
- Oversee monthly and year end financial close processes
- Ensure that internal and external reporting is delivered to stakeholders in a timely manner
- Manage relationships with key service providers, including accounting firms and insurance provider
- Provide financial recommendations to support effective decision making and to facilitate strategic planning
- Review financial results with senior leadership to inform strategic thinking
- Oversee the analysis of pricing and costing decisions
- Support senior management in evaluating potential merger & acquisition or investment activities
- Develop a strong understanding of the company’s operating environment
- Ensure all internal controls and processes are documented and up to date • Evaluate the consolidated risk exposure and tolerance level • Manage tax and other compliance risks
- Create a positive work environment that supports new and long-term employees in their professional development
- Foster a team approach with Finance to decision making across the organization
- Oversee recruitment and onboarding of staff
Your strengths include:
- 5+ years of accounting experience and financial management in leadership position
- Degree in Business, Commerce or similar
- Comfortable engaging with a wide and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills
- Demonstrates strong organizational agility
- Working knowledge of common policies, laws and regulations
- Significant industry knowledge or is committed to learning more
- Sound judgment and guidance to ensure that compensation and benefit practices and policies enhance the organization’s ability to attract and retain talent
- Demonstrates extensive accounting and financial reporting knowledge
- Formulate strategies and policies, and create new approaches in adverse situations
