ABOUT THE ROLE
SOCAN is seeking a Creative Team Administrative Support Intern to join our Creative team commencing May 2022. Reporting to the Director, Creative, the purpose of this position is to provide national administrative support for the Membership Creative team that has a primary focus on the recruitment and retention of SOCAN members. This is a highly administrative role that will require you to assist in report writing, member advances, database, and guest-list management along with proactive research on Canadian music creators and publishers.
YOUR CONTRIBUTION
You will contribute to ‘raising the bar for music rights,” by:
- Lead “online” recruitment research of blogs, YouTube, Soundcloud, and other sources of metrics
- Research weekly song charts, bands and artists appearing at music conferences to support various recruitment and retention efforts
- Prepare reports on recruitment and retention statistics
- Document status of Creative team initiatives and projects
- Work with the Creative team to update existing documentation and develop new resources for SOCAN staff
- Assist with administrative aspects of royalty advance requests from members
- Log information in our case management system for Member Recruitment and Retention matters
- Assist with planning and execution of SOCAN Awards, member receptions, educational panels and song camps as required
- General administration and other team related tasks as required
- Work with a Creative Executive as mentor.

- Comfortable working with spreadsheets
- Experience with MS suite of tools (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).

- Knowledge and interest in working in the Music Industry.
Experience/Education:
- We encourage applicants with an entrepreneurial background, enrolled in professional training programs, or those looking to further their experience in creative industries
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENT
A SOCAN laptop will be supplied for business use. A personal internet connection (preferably high-speed with minimum 25 mbps of internet bandwidth) and access to a cell/land line phone must be available and maintained, at your own costs to access MFA (Multi Factor Authentication) and company networks when required.
