About the Company
Our client is a well-known leader in the North American real estate industry. They are looking to add a Director, Accounting who will oversee the production and maintenance of all low rise accounting records through to financial statements and some tax compliance; including the direct supervision of accounting staff.

About the Opportunity
- Set up the annual, consolidated low rise business unit operating budget
- Review and distribute monthly management low rise reporting package, including critically analyze cost of goods sold relief, indirect cost relief, land profitability
- Included here is monitoring of aged AP and AR, housing work in process reconciliations, deposit reconciliations
- Prepare financial statements and audit working papers for two significant consolidations of low rise results, as well as a portfolio of other standalone projects
- Included here is 2 year end closings, one for taxable income and the other for financial reporting at fiscal year end
- Monthly monitoring, reconciliation, and equalization of owners’ equity
- Prepare and work with external tax advisors to review a portfolio of Canadian tax compliance – T2s, T5013s, T5s, Manitoba partnership capital filings
- Analyze cost to complete accruals periodically throughout the year, including land project profitability calculations that drive cost of sales and cost to complete amounts
- Main liaison for any IT system changes concerning low rise; involved in testing/design of system improvements
- Manage Taxprep licenses/users
- Set up all new low rise projects in IT, including working with other business units to gather all elements of new project set up; lot mix, land acquisition entries, internal land transfer price, soft and indirect cost buildup
- Responding to business units’ questions
- Plan and oversee several complex external audit engagements
About You
- 10+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Minimum 5+ years in a management capacity
- CPA designated
- Low Rise accounting experience in real estate, construction, or development
- Experience with Navision
Salary Range
$150,000 – $175,000/year
