Summary
The Director of Finance at our manufacturing facility is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring sound financial management, and providing strategic guidance to support the facility’s growth and profitability. This position requires a strong background in finance, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the manufacturing industry, with expertise in various financial aspects including management, analysis, cash flow management, trend analysis, ROI, industry analysis, and commercial experience, high-level managerial reporting and experience in fundraising.
Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Develop and implement financial strategies, budgets, and forecasts.
- Conduct financial analysis to drive decision-making and optimize financial performance.
- Monitor cash flow and liquidity to ensure operational stability.
- Analyze trends in financial data and recommend adjustments as needed.
- Calculate and analyze Return on Investment (ROI) for various projects.
Cash Flow Management:
- Develop and implement strategies to manage and optimize cash flow.
- Monitor cash flow projections and ensure the availability of funds for operational needs.
- Identify and address cash flow gaps and liquidity risks.
- Collaborate with parent company and finance team to streamline cash management processes.
- Working Capital plans, needs, and strategies on an ongoing basis detailed by quarter
Cost Control and Optimization:
- Monitor and control manufacturing costs to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Collaborate with operations teams to optimize resource allocation.
Product Costing and Pricing:
- Establish and maintain product costing models to determine accurate product costs.
- Collaborate with product development and sales teams to set competitive pricing strategies.
- Analyze the impact of pricing decisions on profitability.
- On-going profitability analysis on all projects and manufacturing contracts
Financial Management and Reporting:
- Manage and supervise the finance department, including accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- Optimize financial processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Generate profitability reports per SKU (Stock Keeping Unit).
Strategic Financial Planning:
- Collaborate with executive leadership to formulate and execute strategic financial plans.
- Provide financial insights to support decision-making.
- Assess the financial impact of business initiatives and expansion plans.
- Conduct industry analysis to identify market trends and opportunities.
Capital Allocation and Fundraising
- Assess long-term and short-term capital requirements
- Develop Roi analysis for all capital expenditures
- Develop options and strategies for capital acquisition including:
- Multiple Lending options
- Fundraising scenarios
Supplier, Customer, and Internal Process Knowledge:
- Gain in-depth knowledge of suppliers, customers, and internal processes to identify areas for improvement.
Collaborate with various departments to streamline and optimize internal processes.
Collaboration with Parent Company:
- Work closely with the parent company’s finance team to align financial strategies and reporting.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration between the facility and the parent company.
Budgeting and Financial Modeling:
- Analyze budgets and track financial performance against targets.
- Create and maintain financial models to support forecasting and decision-making.
Financial Transactions and Credit Management:
- Manage third-party transactions
- Maintain operating credit and manage credit risk effectively.
M&A Analysis:
- Participate in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) analysis and due diligence processes.
- Assess the financial impact and risks associated with potential acquisitions.
- Develop working capital and traditional capital allocation options and plans for all M&A options
Commercial Experience:
- Leverage commercial acumen to support negotiations and strategic partnerships.
Experience / Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
- Proven experience in finance leadership roles, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, costing, and pricing skills.
- In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
