Location(s): Sioux Lookout, ON
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Training Supervisor, the Education Liaison is responsible for coordinating educational supports and provide culturally responsive system navigation support for children and youth.
Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Coordinate education support and collaborate with educators for our children and youth receiving services from our Agency in Agency Operated Homes and other key partners.
- Develop, implement, and monitor education plans for children and youth in care in accordance with identified needs.
- Provide liaison services with administrative staff, as required, with all school boards within our Agency’s district directed at the improvement of educational outcomes for children and youth in care.
- Provide counsel and assists Child Care Workers on Knowledge, methods, and strategies to assist in the development of specific educational supports and promotion of academic success to children and youth serviced by Tikinagan Child and Family Services
- Provide representation on provincial committees to support educational planning and research.
Qualifications Desired:

- Knowledge of and lived experience with Indigenous culture.
- BSW degree or diploma in Child and Youth Worker or Social Service Worker program is an asset.
- Knowledge and linkages with the Ontario education sector to help resolve issues that may impact student learning.
- Critical thinking and crisis management skills are an asset.
- Good written and oral skills
- Good planning, organizational, and administrative skills
- Must produce an acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Valid driver’s license or willingness to obtain driver’s license.
- Travel is a requirement.
