Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion the incumbent;
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develops and delivers equity education for staff and faculty across campus, with a focus on anti-oppression and anti-racism education
- Supports McGill University’s efforts to increase awareness and develop effective practices that create and maintain healthy and inclusive learning and work environments, with an eye to correcting and improving practices where equitable outcomes are not fully realized.
- Supports the University by working with the Senior Advisor: Anti-Racism and Equity Education to offer equity, anti-oppression and anti-racism education by providing advice and expertise to units as they seek to build and maintain inclusive climates for learning and working.
- Advises and collaborates with Faculties and administrative units to develop Faculty-specific Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and anti-racism education and outreach initiatives, ensuring that these account for each Faculty’s and unit’s respective strategic goals and needs.
- Supports the work of the Senior Advisor: Anti-Racism and Equity Education and the Black Student Affairs Liaison to consult with Black and racialized students, faculty, and staff to discern how best to develop and strengthen resources at McGill that are focused on education, supports, and outreach vis-à-vis McGill’s Black and racialized community.
- Works in close consultation with Equity Team staff responsible for the oversight and implementation of University policies and plans such as the Policy on Harassment and Discrimination and the EDI Strategic Plan to support the development of strategies that raise awareness and enhance effectiveness.
- Designs and offers regular virtual and in-person educational opportunities, through classes, training sessions, and events grounded in research and evidence-based practice, that build capacity among all academic and administrative staff to understand and apply the principles of equity and anti-racism in McGill teaching and employment contexts.
- Develops resources such as reading lists and print and web-based materials for members of the McGill community with a view to building capacity and knowledge around equity and anti-racism, particularly in connection with the academic mission of McGill University.
- Supports the work of the Senior Advisor: Anti-Racism and Equity Education in developing and reviewing equity education programs for all relevant employee groups.
- Works in close collaboration with Equity Team staff focused on employment equity to advise internal partners to facilitate employment systems reviews to ensure the removal of systemic barriers in recruitment activities and employment policies and practices, particularly for racialized persons.
- Actively engages the University community, builds partnerships, and provides guidance for programming related to anti-racism and equity education.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
- Sophisticated understanding of anti-racism and EDI concepts
- Knowledge and experience in relation to advancing anti-racism and equity efforts within a University and/or institutional context
- University degree – Bachelor’s or higher
- 2 to 3 years previous experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent time-management and demonstrated capacity to meet tight deadlines
- Bilingualism an asset
- experience working within University or higher education sector is an asset

Annual Salary: (MPEX Grade 04) $58,470.00 – $73,090.00 – $87,710.00
