This role of Business & Financial Analyst will directly support Trillium Health Partners Solutions (THP Solutions) Portfolio and will report to THP Solutions Leadership, with a link to the Financial Planning & Analysis Department. The Analyst role will be responsible for financial accounting and financial reporting for the THPS divisions. The Analyst will also ensure that financial records pertaining to funding agencies and grant funds and their uses are accurate, complete, in compliance to GAAP, MIS standards, to Broader Public Sector (BPS) Directives, and to the contract and grant requirements and funding agency guidelines. In doing so, this role supports the Accounting Manager, Financial Planning Manager, and the THP Solutions Leadership for the administration and management of funds.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with various partners (internal or external to THP) to gather information, summarize and track expenses related to specific Ministry or externally funded projects
  • Applies THP’s financial accounting and business policies in the administration of funds and expenses
  • Assists in month end & year end revenue recognition, accruals and reconciliations, monthly reporting and quarterly and yearly submissions internally as part of Trillium Health Partners or externally to Federal Agencies or their designate
  • Prepares and analyzes account reconciliations of external partners for funding agency reporting, ensuring alignment with contract requirements/budgets, and partner expenses are reimbursed using hospital’s payables and approval processes
  • Provide assistance to establish and advise on policies and processes for accounting, reporting, planning and analysis, incorporating processes to ensure compliance to GAAP, MIS and to BPS Directives and assist in identifying improvements to financial controls
  • Interpret and ensure internal funds are accounted for in a manner consistent to contract and/or grant requirements and funding agency guidelines
  • Support THP Solutions Leadership and Manager, Financial Accounting Services with answering inquiries related to financial activity
  • On-going analyses of current state and project fund tracking, including multi-year project reporting
  • Collaborates with Financial Planning team with annual budget development with monthly analysis on variances, program efficiency plans and future projection planning
  • Assist with the build of materials to educate portfolio leaders on business/financial processes and accountabilities
  • Engage and build strong relationships within THP programs and external partners to fully understand their processes, operations, and funding models
  • Perform reviews, summarize concisely, and help prepare presentations for operational results to enable the identification and interpretation of significant variances
  • Supports the development and implementation of new processes, including process efficiencies in existing programs
  • Support the THP Foundation funding framework to support large project endowments and donations
  • On-going financial reporting on strategic Partnership projects
  • May perform additional duties as required

Key Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a university degree in Business Commerce and or a related finance field with 1 to 3 years of related experience or transferrable knowledge and skills; Working towards or completion of a professional designation program (CMA/CGA/CA) would be helpful in this role
  • Knowledge of financial reporting, accounting standards and GAAP required
  • Knowledge of Hospital financial accounting requirements and MIS reporting an asset
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Windows and other Microsoft Office Software: Excel, Word & PowerPoint
  • Experienced in financial planning, analytical and tracking skills with high degree of focus on detail and accuracy
  • Experience developing annual and or project budgets & forecasts
  • Collaborative team player, with highly developed communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
  • Proven ability to manage multiple and competing projects effectively while able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to thrive in a multi-disciplinary and diverse environment
