WorleyParsonsCord LP is seeking a Finance Director to work in our Edmonton, AB office.
Responsabilities
Commercial Support
- Provides financial analysis and advice on sub-region results through an understanding of business drivers.
- Looks forward to a continually revised forecast factoring in current market conditions and Business Development activities.
- Provides financial leadership as a key member of the sub-region management team; provides financial advice, insight and commercial support; actively participates in sub-region management to support and deliver strategic objectives.
- Provides financial input regarding labour costs, overheads and other project costs for all material bids and tenders, and advice regarding appropriate contractual commercial terms and conditions, including FX, tax and credit implications
- Works closely with Project Managers and participates in monthly project reviews to challenge the financial and commercial health of projects
- Critically reviews and assesses the robustness and reliability of forecasted project profitability and cash flows on a quarterly basis and throughout project duration; communicating significant variances on a timely basis to management.
- Ensures alignment of the Project Controls and Finance groups, both delivering functional expertise to the business operations.
- Directs the project invoicing function and ensures timely and accurate billings.
- Provides financial modelling and sensitivity analysis
- Undertakes ad hoc reporting and participates in special projects as required.
Reporting
- Ensures consistent, timely and accurate monthly and quarterly reporting to all key stakeholders is in place
- Ensures accuracy and consistency in application of Accounting Policy and Standards across sub-region
- Leads budget and forecast preparation for the sub-region and provides information supporting long range planning activities
- Monitors and manages overheads compared to budge and forecast
- Works closely with regional Finance group to ensure all sub-region assets and liabilities are accurately stated; ensures complete and designated balance sheets accounts are properly reconciled on a timely basis
- Works closely with the regional Tax Manager to ensure full compliance with all relevant tax laws
- Overall project accounting responsibility of all projects and joint ventures, with particular emphasis on ensuring that correct revenue and profit recognition policies are applied
- Reviews and analyses monthly sub-region financial results, including key performance indicators and trends, comparison of budget/outlook/forecast to actual
- Reviews and analyses sub-region GL variance analysis
- Presents sub-region summary reporting to senior management and regional Finance group
Continuous Improvement
- Identifies and contributes to the ongoing development of systems and processes to enhance reporting and planning capabilities, including implementation of more frequent forecasting capabilities and deliver of deeper information for decision support
- Identifies benchmarking opportunities and continually challenges the status quo
- Identifies cost reduction opportunities across the sub-region and guides management towards achieving these opportunities.
Leadership
- Recruits, trains, coaches and develops staff
- Ensures approved position descriptions, KPI’s, development plans, and succession plans are in place for all staff/positions; effectively counsels and evaluates the performance of team members and provides for their professional development and career growth; ensures all team members are effectively contributing to the business; supports regional staff development and succession planning efforts for the benefit of the region as a whole
- Crates and maintains a work environment that attracts and retains world class financial talent
Cash Management
- Drives best in class cash management around DSO and WIP (collections efficiency and invoicing efficiency)
- Stewards ongoing cash forecasting; upholds strong, visible credit risk management in the sub-region
- Actively monitors at-risk clients for financial impairment
- Communicates regularly with Project Managers and Project Controls staff to ensure accurate and timely project invoicing, project accounting and up-to-date project cost information, including cost to complete estimates
- Monitors outstanding receivables and engages business for resolutions of disputes and timely collection of outstanding accounts; drives and supports sub-region efforts to meet cash flow expectations
Qualifications
What you will bring
Job Specific Knowledge:
- Strong technical and analytical accounting skills, specifically in the area of financial modeling, analysis and reporting
- Minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience in a large corporate environment
- Extensive budgeting and forecasting experience
- Proven track record of success with significant experience in a senior financial management role
- Experience leading financial teams
- Experience as a strategic business partner to operational teams across the business; has provided excellent analysis, business support and recommendations related to ongoing or potential business activities, contract negotiations and integrations.
- Strong understanding of IFRS
- Familiarity with PST guidelines
Industry Specific Experience:
- Construction experience is a must
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training
- Bachelor of Commerce/Management degree and professional accounting designation both required
- Expert technical understanding of IFRS; maintains the highest professional ethics and standards
Required:
- Advanced Excel skills is an asset
- Familiar with ERP and BI environments, specifically Oracle and Hyperion a plus
