Job description: Finance Manager (Full-Time)
Based in Victoria, BC, we value work/life balance, and are open to a hybrid of Remote and In-Person work arrangements. We are closely monitoring COVID-19 to ensure our hiring practices and work environments are aligned with provincial health orders.
We’re on a quest to find a Finance Manager to manage the accounting and financial reporting for a fast-growing, project-based hi-tech organization.
Core Responsibilities:
- Be the accountable person for the finance function under the guidance of an external CFO (PT) and liaise with tax accountant
- Provide guidance to the Bookkeeper (PT) and make recommendations on future departmental hiring needs
- Develop the project accounting process and track project costs
- Lead the development of actionable management reporting, financial modelling, dashboards, KPIs and overseeing financial performance
- Lead all monthly financial reporting to business units including actual to budget results and the creation of rolling forecasts
- Support the development and preparation of financial models for government funding opportunities, complex business cases and decision support
- Drive the continued improvement of our Finance function by proposing and implementing systems, tools, templates and streamlined processes based on best practice
- Assist with design and maintenance of the accounting, budgeting, and reporting systems, including identifying tools and initiatives to improve our financial planning and analysis (FP&A) data and processes
- Assist in the preparation of investor presentation and materials
Requirements
About You:
- CPA designation or equivalent
- Degree in accounting, finance or related field
- 10+ years experience in progressive accounting and finance related roles
- 5+ years experience and deep knowledge of FP&A, financial reporting and project accounting
- Expert-level Excel modelling skills
- QuickBooks online experience an asset
- Strong analytical skills combined with business acumen and ability to advise on strategy
- Able to manage change and ambiguity
- Able to thrive in a start-up environment and implement new systems, procedures, tools and templates for the organization based on organizational needs and best practice
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal and people management skills with diverse groups
- Strong verbal and written communication capabilities
- Remarkable organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
- Positive attitude; Desire to continuously learn and problem-solve
