What’s the ask?
Reporting to the Controller, the Finance Manager will lead several members of the third party administration (TPA) finance department which includes overseeing accounts receivable, remittances, banking, and financial reporting. Our TPA department is unique because we are administering group benefits plans on behalf of our clients; from billing to collections to remittances to claims payments, this department does it all! This individual should be self-motivated and enjoy working collaboratively with others.
What you will achieve:
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee bank reconciliation process to ensure all transactions are posted and have appropriate supporting documentation
- Evaluate controls and processes to ensure risks are effectively managed throughout the organization and find solutions for control gaps identified
- Support, develop, and lead the finance team through coaching and providing opportunities for growth and more challenging work, including reviewing performance of direct reports and providing feedback on an ongoing basis
- Review & approve outgoing payments ensuring company policies are being followed
- Help with projects that promote company growth initiatives and efficiencies
- Review reconciliations and analyses for claims funding requests and payments to carriers and brokers
- Monitor cashflow of several bank accounts to ensure sufficient cash on-hand and that payments and transfers are not missed
What does it take?
- 2 + plus years of managing an accounting/finance team
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation preferred
- Sound knowledge of Canadian generally accepted accounting principles
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
- Comfortable dealing with company personnel at various levels
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- This position is subject to appropriate background checks that may include, credential, employment, credit, criminal and reference checks
