Job summary:

Canadian Finance’s Management Insights & Analysis team is a collaborative, diverse and high-performing group responsible for enabling and driving value to support Sun Life Canada in achieving financial and business objectives, while being a key business partner on specific initiatives and projects. This team is directly responsible for the internal and external reporting and analytics needs of the Canadian Executive Team (CET), Canadian President and Chief Financial Officer, Board of Directors and Investors.

Reporting to the Director, Performance Management & Analytics, the Finance Manager, Performance Management & Analytics will be responsible for managing the development, consolidation and review of Canadian performance reports/presentations, forecasts and analytics encompassing key business measures, trends and overall Business Group performance. Through extensive involvement with the Business Units, Support Units, and senior management, the individual will develop a broad knowledge of all areas, financial and business drivers, and key performance indicators within Sun Life Canada. This position is also responsible for fostering and building a positive, engaging and inclusive team environment, that proactively anticipates business needs and recommends new opportunities and/or enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage key quarterly internal performance reporting deliverables and accompanying processes for Sun Life Canada, including the development of performance indicator and the Quarterly Business Results packages.
• Manage Sun Life Canada’s forecasting and reporting deliverables, including the evolution towards a continuous forecasting model based on business drivers.
• Actively participate in cross-functional initiatives and Finance projects to advance the business, including assuming various roles within huddles, problem solving/continuous improvement teams and reporting on key performance indicators.

• Includes active involvement in executing on Global Finance Re-Imagined initiatives.
• Identify, recommend and implement continuous improvement opportunities for deliverables and processes, supporting the business’ performance objectives and Canadian Finance vision.
• Manage and develop automated processes and tools to support key team deliverables.
• Develop collaborative partnerships across the Canadian business and support units, and our Corporate office to deliver on all reporting requirements.
• Lead a team of one Financial Analyst, set team objectives and individual development goals, conducting employee reviews and provide ongoing coaching
• Provide support to the Financial & Strategic Insights team for critical tasks, as needed.
• Support strategic Canadian and/or Corporate projects and initiatives, as needed.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• 3-5+ years of experience in Finance, Financial/Business Planning, Performance Management, Business Analytics and/or related field.
• CPA/CFA designation.
• Leadership experience through direct reporting relationships and project management.
• Experience with financial reporting systems and tools (e.g. Longview, Oracle, Hyperion). Business Intelligence/Analytics tools experience is an asset.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (including Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint) and ability to utilize automated functionality/tools to create efficiencies.
• Strong problem solving, analysis and attention to details skills, with a team, people and Client-focused mindset.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbally and in writing, and ability to build effective and collaborative business relationships.
• Ability to prioritize, effectively organize and adapt to meet tight deadlines.

Assets:

• Sun Life experience within a Finance area and/or within the Canadian Business Group.
• Business knowledge and experience related to the Insurance and/or Financial Services industry.
• Experience in a medium to large-size organization with multiple divisions and lines of business.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
