Job description: One of our Hospital Clients is looking for a Financial Accounting & Reporting Manager (CPA, AP functions, Healthcare)
Length: Contract term Temporary – Approximately 3 months
Location: On-site -Kitchener, ON
Hours: Full Time. Monday through Friday (8:00am-4:00pm ET) with occasional evenings and weekends.

Requirements:
Position Objectives:
Manages the Financial Analyst staff providing the Hospital, Physician and Hospital Pension Plan month-end accounting, internal and external MIS TB reporting, account reconciliation, treasury, year-end external audit and information system support for the Finance department along with overseeing the Accounts Payable/Payments and Hospital contract maintenance functions.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Oversee the month-end GL close procedures including journal entries, significant account reconciliations and year-end related external audit
Oversee the AP/Payment functions, including ensure timely and accurate processing of AP vendor invoices and related payments
Oversee the hospital treasury and pension plan reporting functions to ensure timely and relevant support
Ensure that all reporting staff routinely follow (and are held accountable) standardized, clearly documented practices
Oversee the maintenance of hospital financial information systems, including regular testing, maintenance and troubleshooting of system issues in collaboration with the Information Technology department.
Pro-actively manage the customer relationship (AP vendors, staff, physicians, management, etc.) to ensure that customer perceptions are that this position (and the staff that report to this position), is responsive in addressing customer concerns

Decision Making and Impact:
Daily AP staff workload decisions and AP Vendor queries that are resolved in coordination with the AP Supervisor.
Financial accounting decisions requiring resolution monthly with Financial Analyst staff
These regular AP decisions impact the productivity of the AP department and related AP vendor customer satisfaction.
The financial accounting decisions potentially impact the reported financial results for the organization.
Authority governed by the Director Finance and ultimately the VP Corporate Services & CFO, which include compliance with hospital policy and external regulatory authorities
Where conflict with established policy/procedures or prioritization required, advice is sought and approval obtained from the Director Finance

Autonomy:
Describe the degree to which this role allows for work to be done autonomously.
? Position works independently in overseeing the hospital accounting/reporting and AP functions and resolving related issues
? Position works collaboratively with the other Finance Managers to resolve issues that impact all areas of the Finance department functions
? The overall Finance department objectives and goals, the hospital finance related policies, the setting of the Finance department human resources practices and approvals (staff performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, recruitment and hiring, as well as significant conflict resolution are determined by the Director Finance in consultation with impacted Finance Managers

Financial Accountabilities:

x Coordinates data reporting during budget preparation or execution

Qualifications:

x Directs the work of an organizational unit through one or more subordinate managers or supervisors.

Education and Knowledge Required:
University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related discipline.
Chartered Professional Accounting designation
Excel intermediate to advanced level would be expected

Relevant Experience:
Minimum hospital financial analyst experience (3 years+) required. Prior hospital financial management experience supervising unionized and non-unionized staff would be an asset and is desired
To be fully competent in the position, the successful candidate would require a full year cycle learning period to be fully competent on GRH financial processes and system

Working Conditions:
Office working environment Monday to Friday 8-4 with occasional overtime required at month-end and year-end.
